Privacy and Security Policy For the Log Now web app

Privacy and Security Policy For the Log Now web app

Last Updated: July 2026

No Accounts / No Notifications

You can use the Log Now web app without creating an account, username, or sharing contact information.

We don’t send notifications, emails, or any other communication through the Log Now web app.

Data Security

Log Now Decide Later and partner organizations do not have access to and cannot read your private text box.

By design, the application stores as little identifying information as possible:

  • No IP addresses are stored or logged

  • No cookies or browser tracking

  • No user accounts or email addresses

  • No session data that could identify a visitor

Data submitted through the Log Now web app is transmitted using HTTPS encryption.

What is Stored

The following information may be stored:

  • The private text box, which is encrypted and unreadable without the unique access code.

  • A hashed version of the access code that cannot be reversed

  • Optional demographic, barrier, timing, and “Other” write-in responses, stored separately from the private text box.

  • Optional feedback write-in responses, stored separately from the private text box and from the optional demographic, barrier, and timing responses.

  • A date stamp (date only, without a timestamp) for each log submission

  • An anonymous back-end session ID used to group optional demographic, barrier, timing, and ‘Other’ write-in responses together. It is not designed to be linked to the private text box or to the unique access code.

Data We Collect

We collect the total number of logs submitted. This data is designed to be anonymous and not linked to individual logs.

Optional Data We Collect

We collect aggregated responses to the optional demographic, barrier, timing, feedback, and “Other” write-in responses.

Optional demographic, barrier, timing, and “Other” write-in responses are stored separately from the private text box and are not designed to be linked back to it.

Optional feedback write-in responses are stored separately from the private text box and from the optional demographic, barrier, and timing responses.

Use of Optional Data

Optional demographic, barrier, and timing responses may be used to:

  • Understand barriers survivors face to reporting and accessing medical, mental health, and legal services.

  • Understand how different survivor identities affect reporting and seeking medical, counseling, and legal services.

Optional feedback write-in responses may be used to:

  • Better understand community needs

Optional data will not be displayed unless at least 10 submissions have been received.

Suppressed results will display as: “Not enough data to display safely.”

Log Now Decide Later and, where applicable, partner organizations connected to the community link used, may view the optional aggregated responses.

Data Retention and Deletion Policy

When a log is deleted, the private text box is deleted.

Optional demographic, barrier, timing, and ‘Other’ write-in responses may remain because they are stored separately from the private text box and are not designed to be linked back to it.

Optional feedback write-in responses may remain because they are stored separately from the private text box and from the optional demographic, barrier, and timing responses.

Breach Notice

Because the Log Now web app is designed not to collect names, accounts, emails, or contact information from Log Now web app users, direct notice may not be possible.

If notice is legally required and we do not have sufficient contact information, we may provide substitute notice as permitted by applicable law, which may include website notice, partner communications, or other legally permitted notice methods.

Availability and Changes

The Log Now web app may be changed, paused, updated, or discontinued. Features may be modified as the web app evolves.

Limitations

We work to protect privacy and security, but no online system can be guaranteed to be completely secure or continuously available.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy as the Log Now web app evolves. The “Last Updated” date will show when changes were made.
